I really enjoyed this book. I have a feeling that Dr. Cohen’s sense of humor is going to be a big help during my first year as a mom. His outlook of relax and enjoy before these precious years disappear is something that I can (hopefully) relate to. I also appreciate his explanation of the 5/10/15 minute sleep method. In fact, his whole chapter long explanation was more informative and helpful and “real” than whole books I had desperately tried to get through. While this book was not fully comprehensive. In that it does not fully touch onto everything that may go wrong with your child, he does touch on most everything and just enough so that you can know when to worry, or when to ignore the red rash growing over your child’s body. I think I’m really going to find his diagrams of possible symptoms and solutions to be a big help.
Especially sweet were the Daddy vs Doctor stories he sprinkled about the book. I thought they were funny and poignant and made him seem more accessible and real. Someone I could relate to who has been there and survived. Someone who does not expect me to create banquets of organic superfoods, wear my baby and will not look down at me for shooting my baby full of vaccines.
I really recommend Dr. Cohen’s Eat Sleep Poop as a humorous “Common Sense” outlook to parenting. He tells us that there will be tears. There will be poop. But you will get past it and look back at this time with fondness and nostalgia. I can’t wait.
