I had seen the book in the bookstore but decided not to buy it until I found a copy for $ .50. I loved it. I have read it and listened to it on CD now several times and still find myself laughing out loud. The characters are likeable and complex, the plot is smooth but keeps you on your toes. The technology that he has developed is amazing and very cool. Even more, the technology is based on environmentally sound ideas that are subtle but do make you think. I read my first copy until it fell apart and then bought a hard back (I hardly ever buy hard back.) I have bought this book several times as a gift and even had my mother read it. FANTASTIC BOOK!

When I got my Pentax KX there were warnings in the reviews about how much storage space the JPG and RAW files could take up. I got two of these so I could switch if need be while I transfered pictures to my laptop. I have never had a problem with running out of space or needing to switch to the backup card, except if I was in a prime photo op and couldn’t leave the camera off long enough to download the photos! This would hold all the photos I could probably shoot in a weeks time.
I have had strange messages from my antivirus program that indicate infected temp files while downloading my photos. I have also had some RAW files come up as not retrievable. I will have to see if this persists and try the second card to see if it resolves the problem.

I’m a novice at electronics, and there are too many processes to go thru to get to what you want (to get to your destination) – once you figure out all of the buttons to push – it’s a beautiful thing…

When I found this little book,I thought it was a typical ‘Road Book’;but it wasn’t.The author is a small town newspaper columnist, and who is quite happy to live the simple small town life with a job he enjoys,a family he loves,a home he and his wife created out in the country;and that is about all he really yearns for—the simple life. The newspaper that employs him has had its ups and downs, and ownership changes as is so common these days;but through the years Johnson has survived it all;if sometimes only barely; but then that is all he really wants. He is basically a writer who writes a human interest column. He has come up with a novel method of searching out his subjects–he simply picks them at random from his telephone directly. What he finds is that he has an unlimited source of interesting people to write about and all within a short distance of his home.He shows that virtually everyone, and no matter how ordinary their lives seem to be,there is always something interesting about their life experience to write about.
That is about all there is to this book.Except for one thing.A few years ago a friend recommended that I read “The Stone Diaries’ by Carol Sheilds. It was a very similar book, written about ordinary people and their lives. The one big difference is that Sheilds won a Pulitzer Prize for her efforts.
I looked up her book and read the Customer Reviews and they are very mixed. Some think the book was wonderful and really deserved the prize, while others just couldn’t see where it was merited.
The two books are very similar and if you like Johnston’s you are sure to like Sheild’s.Likewise; if you find one rather mundane ;you’re likely to find the other the same.
Here is what Johnson has to say in a nutshell:
“Over the better part of two decades, these people have confirmed the notion that everyone is worthy of the front page. Moreover, they’ve shown me how to appreciate the simple things we already have within our grasp and the exhilaration that come

I LOVE MY KINDLE!!!!!
I have been debating an e-reader for over 2 years. Saw the Sony at Target and almost bought it but did some reading and decided to wait. Didn’t think I’d use it much. Then Barnes and Noble came out with Nook. Thought about that. You can read all the free books you want (if I understand it right) as look as you are physically sitting in their store. That’s a 30 minute drive for me. Their e-books (that I would be interested in) were more expensive. Again, I decided to wait. Then Borders recently came out with two e-readers. But again, their e-books were more expensive. I finally decided to try the Kindle.
I LOVE MY KINDLE! There are tons of free and inexpensive books. You don’t have to go to the store and hunt or order online and wait for a week. I can read it NOW! Great selection of my favorite genre. I love the different font sizes! I love that I can (and do) take it with me anywhere! Slips right in my pocketbook in the case that I bought for it. And think of all the trees I’m not killing!
I LOVE MY KINDLE! I like to read in bed when I read and this thing is not heavy at all. Great screen. Easy to read with my bedside lamp. I don’t need a clip on light. I also love that I can take a bunch of books with me when I go wherever. I don’t have to decide ahead of time which book to take – they are all there!! I can take three Bibles, 3 devotional books, several inspirational books, several classics, and a few fictions all in my pocketbook!! YEA!!!
Let me also say that Amazon and Kindle support have been wonderful. When I ordered my Kindle it was shipped through UPS. I got the notice that it had been delivered. Ran home from work to put it in the house – nothing. Went home twice and walked all around the house – nothing. Not only was my Kindle missing – it was registered to my account. I was frantic! Called Amazon. They deactivated it and said they would send a new one if it didn’t show up in a few days. Late that

My mother-in-law is in her 80’s so I try to help out where I can. A while back I offered to vacuum her place. She had a bagless dirt devil that she was unable to use due to limited mobility in one of her hands. The cup that held the dirt was even hard for me to change without significant effort. We bought her the Hoover Tempo U5140-900 upright and solved her problem. Yes, she again has to change a bag once in a while, but at least she can use it. It is light weight and easy to use. The price was very economical too. She has regained a little measure of independence.
