i bought this ballhead to go along with the new mountaineer tripod i was buying.
first toughts, well it is not intuitive, i had to follow the instructions to install the head on the tripod… whatever happened to just screw it on….. and it might have made some mistake, since it seems to unscrew itself easily…or is that a feature.(i could see it as a features since it allows the tripod to be shorter…. usefull for putting it in a backpack, for example).
Next, the great little level bubble… what a joke… i thought great, a level on my tripod head, i won’t need to bring my extra one (that installs on the flash emplacement). well it turns out that when the camera is fixed on the head, you cannot see the level bubble…. completely useless.
The quick release is not so quick….i have had much better….
these are minor qualms though, the head is pretty light and i have never used a ballhead before, but goes well… a bit annoying for making panoramas, but i think i found some other trick…. unscrewing the head itself….
expensive though

The card has proven to be unreliable & defective. It will no longer upload to my PC or any other device. It indicates “Memory Card Error”. The camera manual recommends reformatting which deletes the photos. The photos can still be viewed on the camera. The card is beyond the 30 day return for electronics but I am waiting Amazon’s reply to my request for a return with proration. Transcend may be a low quality knockoff but many have been sold and apparently used without problems.

I’ve read this book a few times in my life, roughly every decade since high school. Each time I find new or different meaning in Holden’s struggles. It’s too easy for us to say, “snap out of it!” as some suggest; but I think that really turns a blind eye to the real internal struggles that many teens have today. Moreover, how we deal with “phonies” is a debate that many of us have well into our adult life. This book still hits a cord for me.

The Eagles are one of my favorite rock bands. I was never fortunate enough to enjoy their music in person but this HD DVD brings me pretty close to that experience. I was tempted to get the DVD version some months ago but glad I held out. The classics are all here – Tequila Sunrise, Love Will Keep Us Alive, You Belong To The City, Dirty Laundry, Hotel California, Desperado, etc. The Audio/Video recording is superb and the Menu organizes the songs/chapters very well. This has got to be one of the best concert HD DVDs out there. A perfect way to show off your home theater.

We just used boiling water without soap as suggested by Mary Hunt the columnist.
Don’t soak the carpet, and vacuum until there isn’t any water coming up thru the clear plastic shield. It got close to walls and has strong suction. The carpet was barely damp after and the waste water was dirty so we know it cleaned. The machine is a lot of plastic but is easy to assemble and clean just be careful and don’t force or over tighten items. The instructions are very good and detailed. For the price we are delighted.

Does a great job of holding the GPS unit. I drive on a lot of bumpy, dirt roads and it doesn’t move. And it is quick and easy to hide when you leave your car in a parking lot.

Book Description
As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by Fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety or ninety-three, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an un-trainable elephant who was the great hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.

This book came to us as a recommended read from several sources. Once selected, we could not possibly put it down. The author, Sara Gruen, builds the detailed and fantastic world of a travelling circus during the Great Depression from the ground up! The story of Jacob Jankowski is one of sorrow, love and at times terrifying. His constant emotional struggles can be related to by many readers (though perhaps not as fantastical) and will captivate the imagination. The other characters Gruen constructed are perhaps the most remarkable outside of young Jacob, as with any circus, they all act their parts accordingly … with flawless precision.
One does not need to be a circus aficionado or historical reader to take pleasure in this novel, for it contains a little of everything to captivate any bookworm. We guarantee you will not be able to put this one down!
